Port Property is excited to share that our West Bayside office, located at 82 Hanover Street, is now home to a bicycle station for Portland’s first-ever bikeshare program.
Tandem Mobility, a community-focused micro mobility provider, launched the Portland Bikeshare on August 15th with an initial introduction of 50 traditional gear and electric bikes with more to be added over the following weeks.
Support from local sponsors, MaineDot and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, was essential to launching this city-wide program, which was made possible through multi-year funding and years of work on the part of the City of Portland.
The initiative reinforces Portland’s leadership in sustainability and will allow residents and visitors alike to navigate around the city with affordable and convenient modes of transportation, fostering a healthier community. Geared cruiser bikes will cost $1 to unlock and $0.15/minute, and electric assist bikes will cost $2 to unlock and $0.30/minute. Monthly memberships are also available.
Installed steps away from the entrance of Port Property’s 82 Hanover office, the new bike station is also conveniently located near Port Property’s upcoming live-work-play development at 52 Hanover Street. Set to open for occupancy next spring, 52 Hanover will offer a modern, vibrant residential community in West Bayside. 52 Hanover will also feature commercial space, further adding to the neighborhood’s burgeoning retail and dining scene – making it a local destination for all of Portland to enjoy.
The addition of this new bikeshare station along Hanover Street will continue to connect the West Bayside neighborhood and its residents to downtown Portland, offering another mode of transportation with less car traffic while supporting nearby businesses. Port Property is proud to continue our efforts in strengthening and connecting the West Bayside neighborhood for years to come.
