Last month, members of our Portland and Biddeford team volunteered with United Way of Southern Maine‘s annual “Week of Action” campaign to give back to our neighbors across southern Maine and connect with our local community.
One of the largest volunteer service events in the region, Week of Action is a 5-day event held in May this year (May 16-20, 2022) that combines volunteer activities, donation drives, and community events. This year’s Week of Action featured hundreds of volunteers from 30 companies, all participating at a range of volunteer sites across southern Maine. Throughout the week, volunteers visited a total of 40 non-profit project sites, participating in a variety of activities – including landscaping, painting, neighborhood clean-ups, classroom readings, virtual volunteer work, and more.
Port Property was proud to participate in Week of Action, with a large number of our team registering to volunteer back in April. On Wednesday, May 18, we headed down to the Barron Center senior living facility on Brighton Avenue in Portland to help with landscaping and yard clean-up. Throughout the day, our team assisted with weeding, raking, mulching, and planting around the exterior and onsite courtyard at the Barron Center. We were thankful to participate and had a great time while working for an even better cause.
