INTRODUCING THE LEVEE – A New Riverside Destination in Biddeford

We are excited to finally introduce our second redevelopment project in Biddeford – The Levee. Running parallel to the Saco River, this four-property community will feature sophisticated, riverfront residential communities, plus a variety of commercial space which will soon be home to local shops, eateries, and a modern self-storage facility.

The Levee will be comprised of four distinct properties on a large site in downtown Biddeford, set to be developed in phases over the next few years. The entire development will eventually make up the entirety of a peninsula along the Saco River.  Once fully complete, The Levee will feature a range of residential and commercial spaces, becoming a vibrant riverside destination for residents, visitors, and neighbors to enjoy.

The flagship property of The Levee will be a mixed-use residential community, “Lofts on the Levee.” Originally known as the Saco-Lowell Mill, the building served as the location of the Saco and Lowell machine shop for the area’s textile industry in the 1800’s. Previously underutilized, Lofts on the Levee will reflect the building’s evolution while preserving the building’s historic features. Following the building’s redevelopment, Lofts on the Levee will offer 96 sophisticated, design-forward apartments. Inspired by industrial mill details, Lofts on the Levee will establish the feel of a city loft while remaining true to its location with oversized mill windows, mixed-metal accents, exposed concrete, and modern fixtures. Lofts on the Levee will also be home to “Self Storage on the Levee”, a 327-unit self-storage facility located on the ground floor of the building.

Lofts on the Levee’s on-site amenities include:

  • A two-story coworking space that leverages the building’s high ceilings while creating added privacy and seating options.
  • An industrial fitness center with a range of state-of-the-art machines and equipment.
  • An expertly designed rooftop lounge and outdoor deck on the top floor of the building, with floor-to-ceiling windows and 360-degree dramatic views of the Saco River.
  • A temperature-controlled storage facility on the bottom floor of the property.

Future plans for The Levee include the development of another mixed-use property, with apartments and ground-level commercial space, as well as the addition of riverfront condominiums to offer a range of living options on The Levee. Additional historic renovations will include the repurposing of a brick warehouse at the end of the peninsula, creating a waterfront retail and dining destination.
