30 Preble Street is a six-story, 64-unit building that was previously a hotel. Also known as The Wadsworth, 30 Preble Street includes two street-level commercial spaces.
The apartments today are a mix of small to large studios, small to large one bedrooms, and two bedrooms. Almost all of the apartments have hardwood floors, soaring high ceilings and large windows.
In September 2013, Portland magazine published an article on the Morocco Lounge, which was located in the lobby of the former Wadsworth Hotel. Two archival images of 30 Preble Street can be found on The Maine Historical Society website: one circa 1907, and another circa 1912 showing the Flaherty & McCabe furniture store.
If any utility company needs access to a secured area of the building, please call Port Property’s Non-Emergency Maintenance Line at 207-699-2219 at least 24 hours in advance. Residents should leave their name, new address, and the connection date.
30 Preble Street includes coin-op laundry machines that are located on the first floor, to the right of the mailboxes.
Note: To ensure minimal disruption, residents are asked to refrain from using the laundry facilities before 8 am and after 8 pm.
There is no off-street parking available at 30 Preble Street.
For further information about on-street parking and City of Portland parking bans, please contact the City of Portland or visit their website.
Trash bins are located off the lobby to the left of the mailboxes. An entry key is required to open the door.
All trash must be contained in closed trash bags (City of Portland trash bags are not required) and placed inside of the barrels, with the lids closed. Please notify the office if the barrels are full.
If residents dispose of household trash and/or large items in or around the building, they will be charged for removal and disposal. Please use the recycling totes, which are kept on the property, for single sort recyclables. Port Property is responsible for placing the totes curbside on a weekly basis.
The City of Portland’s recycling guide is available here.
To set up a buzzer: Call Port Property at (207) 699-2218 and leave the resident’s address, telephone number, and reason for calling. Port Property will input this information into the system.
Once inputted, the resident’s telephone number will be linked to their apartment. When a guest requests entry, the resident’s phone will ring. After answering, push 6 to buzz open the door.
